Boann! *raps her staff on the ground three times* Silence!
Boann: Let us pray. *bows head in reverence*
Malphas: *lowers head*
Elphame: *bows her head*
Imari: *bows head*
Chou: *bows head*
Sylis: *crosses his arms*
LadyEtna: *bows her head*
Asphael: *kneels*
Boann: Destroyer. Plague of plagues. Eternal Blight.
Boann: Now that LadyEtna has decided you are deserving of her holy
Boann: presence, the family wishes you to give her your special
Boann: interest. As far as the rest of us, we are devoute as ever.
Boann: Bring onto us the simple understanding that we should
Boann: act as instruments of your will.
Boann: And keep us mindful of our own insignificance.
Boann: Especially LadyEtna.
Boann: Ia Sgrios.
Chou: Ia
Elphame: Ia
Malphas: Ia Ia
Elphame: hehe
Sylis: …
LadyEtna: la
Boann: So we had an interesting conversation come to one of
Boann: the family this past moon.
Boann: Deoch.. is the son of Danaan.
Boann: I know I know… crazy, isn’t it?
Elphame: *chokes*
Boann: But wait it gets better.
Boann: This one wants to be one of the family.
Boann: It was suggested to them more than once that they might
Boann: want to attend a mass.
Boann: Because they told us already that they are well versed
Boann: in our reading list and well versed in our theology.
Boann: I guess they’d do fine until that icky question of…
Boann: “Why are Deoch and Sgrios allied?”
Boann: So it got us thinking, how many of the rest of Temuair
Boann: is unaware of why this is.
Boann: To the seekers… this mass will be a gimme. So pay
Boann: attention.
Boann: So Deoch.. written about during the great war of
Boann: Danaan and Chadul.
Boann: Written as a “dubhaimid God”
Boann: A son of Danaan? Hardly.
Boann: The dubhaim are spawned from the Chaos.
Boann: That is to say, from that “thing” that is “not-existence”.
Boann: They know the secrets of life and death.
Boann: The dubhaimid are more powerful than you think. Sure can
Boann: walk out of here and slay the cruels that walk before you,
Boann: but do you really kill something that was never alive to
Boann: begin with?
Boann: No, you simply make it not exist again.
Boann: How would one kill a rock?
Boann: You can obliterate it, its form… but you can’t
Boann: kill it.
Boann: The same applies to the dubhaimid.
Boann: You dispatch with the body you see… but
Boann: it will reform again. It is darkness in some sort of
Boann: form, a representation in this world.
Boann: So how do Deoch and Sgrios work in this? Well they are
Boann: gods.
Boann: Again remember, the dubhaimid know the secrets of
Boann: life and death.
Boann: So why wouldn’t they know how to make gods?
Boann: There is no Aosdic text or mundane history that has put
Boann: Sgrios and Deoch with Light or Life.
Boann: The Dubhaim themselves have been credited with knowing
Boann: those secrets, and creating and stocking the underworld
Boann: and then… here’s the kicker… creating Chadul to
Boann: watch over it.
Boann: The Dubhaimid don’t breed. They just make others like
Boann: themselves.
Boann: They can’t breed, they aren’t alive.
Boann: So back to Deoch and Sgrios.
Boann: We have two gods which Chadul commanded, as Danaan commanded
Boann: hers.
Boann: Created? No.
Boann: Commanded, like a general commands his underlings.
Boann: And in turn the gods commanded the lesser beings.
Boann: Deoch and Sgrios served together. They are old “friends”,
Boann: as it were.
Boann: Some say Deoch betrayed Chadul when he fell in love with
Boann: Danaan.
Boann: Let me offer something else to you.
Boann: Deoch is the god of debauchery, god of rapture. These
Boann: are what his charge was when the dubhaim created him.
Boann: Being a god, Deoch would have such an extreme need and
Boann: want for things that excite the senses.
Boann: Too much wine.
Boann: Too much art.
Boann: Too much food.
Boann: Too much music.
Boann: Too much… other stuff too.
Boann: All in excess.
Boann: So they war..
Boann: battle battle battle.
Boann: Deoch catches a glimpse of some of the things on the Light
Boann: side.
Boann: “Love”
Boann: Chaos doesn’t know love
Boann: It’s a feeling, a sense of being.
Boann: Why -shouldn’t- Deoch chase after it?
Boann: And what better prize to have in Love than the mother
Boann: of all creation?
Boann: Too much love… yes… Another check in Deoch’s
Boann: book of “been there done that”
Boann: But such an interesting thing that was brought with it.
Boann: In order to feel such a thing, he had to be given some of
Boann: the Light.
Boann: So.. maybe Deoch is tainted a bit.
Boann: No longer fully dark.
Boann: But that doesn’t matter.
Boann: One simply does not forget what they have learned.
Boann: Deoch learned to create things that weren’t darkness
Boann: spawned.
Boann: So where does this leave Sgrios?
Boann: Well… Sgrios is the god of destruction and decay.
Boann: He can’t know other. Gods are absolute.
Boann: There isn’t room for emotion in such absolution.
Boann: This means, Sgrios holds no ill will to Deoch.
Boann: And Deoch neither to Sgrios.
Boann: They work together well.
Boann: Deoch’s greatest masterpiece has been taking the power
Boann: of chaos and putting into the life force of the mundane
Boann: body.
Boann: We have been calling it “the spark”.
Boann: Mundanes are just that… mundane. They only know
Boann: the light and can’t see beyond that.
Boann: Deoch knew that by mixing the two you could acheive
Boann: something that neither knows
Boann: So have gave Danaan’s creations chaos.
Boann: Not to use, but to live with.
Boann: We see beyond just… baking bread every day.
Boann: Fluffing your hair and working in an inn.
Boann: Making countless numbers of center daggers.
Boann: Or any task that you know none of us would do.
Boann: We see outside now.
Boann: We see that which couldn’t be seen before.
Boann: And the plus side to it all…
Boann: The spark is very delicious to Sgrios.
Boann: It allows Sgrios to stand at the threshhold between this
Boann: existence and the chaos.
Boann: And the more Sgrios takes… the more Deoch can
Boann: create.
Boann: With note of that, I don’t think the two were ever so
Boann: “happy” with one another.
Boann: Deoch is not a thing born of Light. He couldn’t be.
Boann: But that Light which he now knows has brought about
Boann: our own lives. Living as a mundane is no life at all.
Boann: Ia Uggae.
Elphame: Ia
Malphas: Ia
Chou: Ia
Boann: Aifreann has come to us.
Boann: ((”Mass is Cast” for the daft))
